This collection of photos forms part of a current research project which entails exploration of visual communications for the marketing of Coca Cola in India through the lens of ‘glocalisation’– viewing such advertising as a site of negotiation between global and local factors. Below some examples.

…perhaps interesting to note is that Coke ‘buys’ branding space like this by supplying local merchants with building materials ie. stones, paint (only red and white!) metal roof plates and of course the inevitable coke-fridges to setup a shop. This is one of the reasons you will find CocaCola literally in every corner of the 3rd world… brand visibility equals primary needs!?
